The "6th Grade Jodi's Hope Award"
Created to inspire
kids to develop their creative writing and public speaking skills, and to have fun doing it. Jodi's passion for
jounalism was evident at an early age. 2005 was the inaugural year and the contest is held annually in the fall.
Winners:
Out of concern for the privacy of minors we will not be printing the winners names on our web-site.
Eligibility:
Contest open to all public and parochial sixth grade students in LPGE
school district. Students must have signed consent form from their parents.
Two part contest:
1.
Written Essay
2. Video Taped Speech
Theme of Essay and Speech:
The essay
theme will change each year to keep the contest fresh.
Length:
Speech delivered essay
must be a minimum of 2 minutes long and a maximum of 4 minutes long.

Final Submission Deadline:
Students must submit all of the following
in envelopes provided:
- Typewritten story, free of typographical errors, with title and students name clearly
printed on top.
- Completed video tape with name writen on outside of tape.
- Copy of signed parental consent
form.
Winners will be announced by the end of December 2007 judging will be completed by the board members
of Jodi's Network of Hope, Inc. and the family of Jodi Huisentruit.
Prizes:
The winner will receive a $300 savings bond to apply toward their college education. The winner will also read
their story live on KEYL radio.
The second and third place runners up will each win $100 savings
bonds to apply toward their college education.
